THE CAMPERVAN

  • Our base vehicles are the Dodge RAM 2500 HD and the Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD, both heavy-duty 4x4 trucks with powerful V8 petrol engines and automatic transmission.

  • No. A valid standard light vehicle driver's licence is all you need. The Campervans are automatic with Apple CarPlay navigation, front and rear cameras, and cruise control, so it's straightforward to drive despite its size.

  • Absolutely. The campervans are equipped with custom suspension and a 2.5" lift kit, all-terrain tyres, selectable 4WD and 2WD modes, and a diff lock. These are heavy vehicles so deep soft sand dunes can be a challenge, even to an experienced off-roader, but they are built to handle deserts, mountains, wadis, and everything in between, not just graded gravel roads.

  • The campervan sleeps up to 4 adults. There's a fixed queen-size master bedroom plus a convertible lounge that makes a second double bed, both with proper bedding and reading lights included.

  • The van has a full bathroom with a hot and cold shower, flush toilet with auto drainage, wash basin, mirror with built-in storage, hot water, and towels provided. There's an outdoor shower for rinsing off after a swim and even a footwash by the door for sandy feet.

  • There's a full indoor kitchen with a 2-burner gas stove, microwave, hot and cold sink, and a Nespresso coffee machine with 10 complimentary capsules. The outdoor pull-out kitchen gives you a second 2-burner stove and sink with a fold-out bar table,  perfect for cooking outside under the awning. A barbeque is also provided and charcoal is available at most supermarkets and filling stations.

  • No. Just your clothes, toiletries, and personal items. Everything else is included: bedding, towels, full kitchen kit (plates, cutlery, cups, cookware), 4 camping chairs, an ARB dining table, an Omani outdoor lounge chair for 2, a BBQ with charcoal, and an outdoor rug.

POWER & OFF-GRID CAPABILITY

  • The van runs on a 300Ah LiFePO4 lithium battery bank with a 700W solar system, a 5000W inverter, and a split-charge engine relay. For most trips with normal usage (lighting, fridge, charging, AC in the evenings), you can comfortably run 2–3 days fully off-grid. The built-in 6.5kVA pull-out generator gives you a backup whenever you need it.

  • Yes.  The living area has full AC climate control, separate from the cab's air conditioning (which can run all night off the Camper batteries). All windows also have insect screens and blackout screens so you can sleep comfortably with the windows open on cooler nights.

  • Yes. The van has 230V sockets, USB-C, and USB-A charging points throughout. The 5000W inverter means you can charge laptops, cameras, drones, and use most other small appliances without issue.

DRIVING & ROUTES

  • Oman is the overlander’s dream destination, with the freedom to camp almost anywhere. Wild camping is allowed and there are few restrictions, whether its beaches, mountains, deserts, or wadis. Open fires are prohibited in some areas but there are usually warning signs posted in such areas. Just be respectful of nature and private property, and always leave no trace.

  • Yes, Oman is one of the safest, and friendliest, places in the world to explore. Crime is extremely rare throughout the country and Omanis are the kindest, most hospitable people you could wish to meet.

  • All our campervans are equipped with onboard WiFi and Apple CarPlay for easy navigation. Apps like Google Maps / Waze work reliably across Oman, even in many remote regions. Each vehicle is also provided with a copy of Oman Offroad guidebook, which includes an extensive range of routes, camping areas, hikes and waypoint coordinates.

  • Everywhere. The Campervans are designed for all terrain, tarmac highways, mountain passes, graded tracks, wadis, and beaches. Some very steep/technical mountain tracks and soft sand areas are to be avoided, but we'll provide route advice and suggested itineraries based on your interests and experience level.

  • Our standard insurance covers all UAE and Oman, but you will need to let us know if you intend to cross the border as special  documentation can be arranged.

  • Most overland adventurers are very resourceful and our vans are equipped with sand tracks, tow rope and jacks for self-recovery and help is invariably on hand from the kind-natured Omanis who don’t hesitate to offer help when it’s needed. For breakdowns, just call our emergency line and we'll get you sorted.

  • Our vehicles are equipped with an onboard air compressor, so you can easily air down your tyres for soft sand and re-inflate before hitting tarmac again.

  • Yes, fuel stations are widely available across Oman, even in many remote areas. Fuel prices are relatively low compared to most countries, making road trips and long-distance travel very budget-friendly.

  • Fuel in Oman is very affordable compared to Europe, with petrol prices fixed annually. The current price is roughly equivalent to €0.60/£0.50 per litre. This keeps your road trip costs low, even on longer journeys. Plus we give you one full free tank on us!

BOOKING & PRACTICALITIES

  • We offer a free airport transfer between Muscat and Sifah for all campervan guests. Pickup or drop-off at Horizon Stay is also available when booked alongside a campervan rental.

  • A refundable deposit of OMR 500 is required at booking, returned within 30 days of the van's return, less the cost of any damage or traffic fines.

If the vehicle, or any 3rd party property is damaged in an accident where you are deemed, by the police, to be at fault, you will be liable to pay the full cost, or up to the maximum excess limit prescribed in your booking terms and conditions.

  • Payments are processed securely via Stripe. Full rental payment to confirm your booking, with the balance due before collection. Damage deposit can be paid on handover.

  • Cancellations more than 14 days before your start date receive a full refund. Cancellations within 14 days may forfeit the deposit. If your plans change, contact us, we'll always do our best to help.

  • October to April is the ideal time to visit the Gulf region, with reliably cloud-free days, comfortable daytime temperatures, cool nights, and perfect camping conditions. Summer months can be very hot (upto 50oC), particularly in low-lying desert areas, and we may advise against certain remote routes during this period. The higher mountain plains  stay cooler and are perfect for escaping the summer heat. The southern region of Salalah is especially unique during the Khareef (monsoon) season, when the landscape turns green and temperatures are mild.

  • You can absolutely book during Ramadan.Things to keep in mind:

    • Restaurants and some shops may have reduced daytime hours, but evenings are lively, with plenty of options after sunset

Traveling during Ramadan is a great way to experience a quieter, more cultural side of Oman, just with a bit of planning.

  • Pick-up and drop-off are available within 15-minutes of Muscat International Airport). We will meet and greet you upon arrival and take you to your vehicle for handover for a hassle-free start to your trip.

  • Yes, there are large, well-stocked supermarkets in all towns and cities, along with plentiful local grocery stores in most smaller villages and rural areas. Most filling stations also have a small shop and/or coffee shop available, many of which are open 24-hours.

  • Arabic is the official language, but English is widely spoken throughout the country. Many locals also speak additional languages, especially in tourist areas, making communication easy for international travellers.
